The AVAIL Firm

Other Ways to Access Legal Help

Private representation isn't the only path to real help. Here's an honest look at every option, including the ones that don't involve hiring us.

Here's the truth: The AVAIL Firm offers defined service options, limited-scope assistance in qualifying matters, phased fees, and participation in the ARAG attorney network — but these may not be available or appropriate in every matter. If private legal services remain outside your budget right now, Georgia's legal aid and self-help resources are a real, dignified option. We'd rather you find the right help somewhere than no help at all.
Legal Aid Organizations

Income-Qualified Legal Aid

These organizations can sometimes provide actual free representation, not just information, for people who financially qualify. Eligibility and case types vary — confirm directly with each organization.

Atlanta Legal Aid Society
Serves Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, Cobb, and Gwinnett counties with free civil legal services, including divorce, for income-qualifying residents.

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP)
Serves the remaining counties outside metro Atlanta, generally for those at or below roughly 200% of the federal poverty line, or age 60 and older.
1-833-457-7529  ·  glsp.org
Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF)
Connects income-qualifying Atlanta residents with volunteer attorneys for family law matters, including custody and divorce.
(404) 521-0790
Georgia Free Legal Answers
A virtual civil legal-advice clinic for qualifying users — ask a question online and get a response from a volunteer attorney.
Self-Help Centers

Court Self-Help Resources

These provide information and forms, not representation — but they're real, free resources if you're handling any part of your matter yourself.

Georgia Courts Family Law Self-Help Resources
Statewide starting point for divorce, custody, parenting plans, legitimation, and child support resources.
Fulton County Family Law Information Center (FLIC)
Legal forms, free 30-minute consultations, and monthly workshops for self-represented individuals filing in Fulton County Superior Court.
Gwinnett County Self-Help Kiosks & Family Law Clinic
Self-Help Kiosks and a Pamphlet Series through the county court system, plus information and limited assistance for self-represented parties.

Similar self-help programs exist in DeKalb, Cobb, Dougherty, and several judicial circuits statewide.

Legal Insurance

Already Have Coverage You Didn't Know About?

Many employers offer legal insurance as a voluntary benefit — often through ARAG. If you have this coverage, network-attorney fees may be fully covered for many matters, and The AVAIL Firm is a network attorney.
